House of Commons
Chamber

As a leading building restoration company, RTM has been trusted to work on some of Canada’s most iconic buildings, including the Canadian House of Commons in Ottawa, Ontario. This multi-year project involved complex exterior and interior restoration while the building remained fully occupied and operational.

Project Scope

As part of a critical multi-year restoration initiative, RTM undertook the comprehensive restoration of the House of Commons. The scope demanded the highest level of craftsmanship across multiple in-house trades.

Our specialized teams executed the meticulous restoration of the building's delicate stained glass windows, the installation of a new copper standing seam roof, extensive masonry stabilization, and the erection of highly coordinated access scaffolding around the historic structure.

Notable Details

The true complexity of this project extended beyond the technical restoration work. Working closely with government representatives and security personnel, RTM executed the restoration with meticulous phasing and strict safety protocols.

Our project management discipline ensured that the work was performed in a manner that allowed the House of Commons to remain fully occupied and safely operational throughout the entire duration of the restoration process, preventing any disruption to the essential functions of the Canadian government.

Final Result

The completed multi-year restoration successfully preserved one of Canada's most important federal landmarks.

RTM ensured the structural longevity of the masonry, delivered a weather-tight copper roofing system built to last for generations, and renewed the brilliance of the historic stained glass windows—all executed seamlessly without interrupting the nation's legislative operations.
