Fulford Place
Mansion
The magnificent 20,000-square-foot Fulford Place mansion in Brockville, Ontario, was built between 1899 and 1901 for self-made millionaire and Senator George Taylor Fulford I. RTM was privileged to undertake a multi-year, multi-phase project to preserve this grand estate.
Project Scope
The comprehensive exterior scope heavily utilized our specialized in-house carpentry and scaffolding divisions. The phased project involved a complete exterior heritage wood and window restoration across the expansive facades.
In addition to the extensive wood repairs, the scope also included the complete replacement of the mansion's flat roofing systems and the intricate replication and replacement of the historic balustrades and protective railings.
Notable Details
Given the massive 20,000-square-foot scale of the property and its status as a highly significant heritage landmark, our teams erected carefully engineered scaffolding to access the multi-story elevations safely and effectively.
The master carpentry work required strict adherence to period-accurate techniques to ensure all new and repaired wood elements perfectly matched the original 1901 Beaux-Arts architecture that Senator Fulford envisioned for his family estate.
Final Result
Spanning over 15 years of dedicated, multi-phased interventions, RTM successfully safeguarded the exterior envelope of Fulford Place against the elements.
Our specialized carpenters and restoration experts ensured this magnificent mansion retained its authentic historic grandeur, allowing the estate to continue operating safely and beautifully as a treasured museum and landmark in Brockville.
