Hockey Hall of Fame
Facade Repairs

RTM completed targeted facade repairs at the Hockey Hall of Fame, located at 30 Yonge Street in Toronto. Working with Brookfield Properties and RDH Building Science Inc., RTM coordinated access, scaffolding, and restoration work on an occupied landmark building to preserve its iconic architectural character.

Project Scope

RTM completed targeted facade restoration work at the Hockey Hall of Fame in downtown Toronto. The project included sandstone repairs, surface consolidation, localized mortar joint repointing, replacement of sealant joints, window and door repairs, trim repairs and repainting, minor flashing repairs, masonry cleaning, bird deterrent replacement, and related access and scaffolding coordination.

The summary scope required dedicated attention to period masonry work including cleaning, repointing, and the repairing, replacing, and dismantling of period stones across the facade.

Notable Details

The work was performed on a fully occupied landmark property, requiring careful scheduling, meticulous access planning, and precise coordination to minimize any disruption to building operations and visitor experience.

The scope included highly specialized masonry restoration activities to revive the sandstone exterior. Specific facade items included cleaning masonry at bird-dropping locations, removal and replacement of existing bird spikes, and crucial protection of the exterior statues during the work.

RTM's teams reviewed and repaired roofline balustrades, pillars, flashings, grade-level stone sections, and performed localized stone crack repairs. RTM was also responsible for the installation of all scaffolding and access systems to exterior building surfaces as required to complete the work safely and efficiently.

Final Result

The completed work successfully restored and protected key sandstone and facade elements at one of Toronto’s most recognizable heritage landmarks.

RTM’s work improved the long-term condition of the exterior envelope while seamlessly preserving the architectural character of the Hockey Hall of Fame, all while maintaining unhindered building operations throughout the entire construction period.
