Holy Trinity
Russian Orthodox Church
The awe-inspiring Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church is a true Toronto landmark. RTM welcomed the opportunity to execute a complete exterior and envelope restoration program, highlighted by the intricate replacement of the church's central copper dome and traditional brick masonry conservation.
Project Scope
The restoration of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church involved highly synchronized interventions on both the roofing systems and building envelope. RTM's multi-trade teams were deployed to perform a complete replacement of the historic copper dome alongside flat roofing renovations.
Our specialized sheet metal division fabricated and installed complex decorative metalwork around the roofline interfaces, while our masonry and carpentry crews mobilized to restore the original structural brickwork and timber components.
Notable Details
A crowning architectural highlight of this project was the complete replacement of the church's iconic copper dome. Our master coppersmiths shaped and locked new standing-seam copper panels in place, restoring the brilliant gold-reflecting profile of the landmark.
The flat roof was entirely modernized with robust insulation and high-performance waterproofing membranes to protect the sanctuary below. Concurrently, RTM’s masons performed heritage masonry restorations, carefully matching lime mortars to repoint and stabilize the historical brick facades.
Additionally, our carpenters undertook a dedicated wood window restoration program, repairing original frames and glazing to improve energy efficiency while strictly preserving the church's classic aesthetic.
Final Result
The completed restoration successfully protected the historic fabric of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, giving its landmark features a renewed, weather-tight lifespan.
By self-performing the sheet metal dome fabrication, low-slope flat roofing, and heritage brickwork masonry, RTM maintained absolute quality control across every trade interface. The church stands completely revitalized, secure in its envelope and prepared to continue inspiring its parish and community for generations to come.
