St. Anne’s
Church
With some of the earliest records dating back to 1859, Ste-Anne’s church is a cherished landmark in the town of Tecumseh, Ontario. Starting in 2005, RTM initiated a multi-year, multi-phase project to implement a complete exterior renovation to preserve the structure for generations to come.
Project Scope
Starting in 2005, RTM commenced a highly technical, multi-phase complete exterior renovation of Ste-Anne's Church. The project required careful coordination over many years to stabilize and restore the mid-19th-century architecture.
Our specialized masonry and sheet metal teams executed a comprehensive scope designed to protect the building envelope from further deterioration while strictly maintaining the historical sightlines of the cherished local landmark.
Notable Details
A defining component of this multi-year restoration was the delicate removal of the church's previous steeple. RTM expertly replaced it with a newly engineered, structurally sound steel-framed steeple built to withstand intense weather loads.
Following the structural installation, our sheet metal division meticulously clad the new steeple in Lead-Coated Copper (LCC), ensuring extraordinary longevity and an authentic heritage finish. In addition to the towering steeple work, RTM also performed delicate heritage storm window restoration across the church to protect its original stained glass elements.
Final Result
Spanning more than 15 years of phased interventions, the completed exterior renovation successfully secured Ste-Anne’s Church for its community.
Through the integration of modern steel framing with traditional LCC copper cladding and specialized window restoration, RTM preserved the 1859 aesthetic while delivering a high-performance building envelope built for the future.
